Meet the Founders
Joel & Carol are one of the pioneers of marriage ministries across the globe. They were a young couple excelling in their secular jobs when God called them to minister to families. They left their respective jobs in international marketing and professor at WCC, Chennai to respond to the Call of God upon their lives to prepare young people for marriage and sowing Kingdom truths into marriages.
They are the founders of ‘SOURCE’, an NGO that deals with broken marriages, ministering to the young adults on the importance of Holiness and purity, knowing God’s Will for their marriage and equipping married couples through the infallible Word of God for their marriage. Their book ‘God’s Heart for Marriage’ & the signature youth summit ‘Start Right ’has brought clarity about marriage to numerous Children of God age between 21-29.
The present move of God has brought Joel & Carol into a deeper understanding of the phrase “on earth as it is in heaven” for marriages thereby bringing the Kingdom of God into marriages.
GOD’S CALL…
God united us in marriage in April 1993. We believed God had a plan and purpose in bringing us together as husband & wife, so we waited on the Lord to know what He wanted us to do as a couple. During the first year of our marriage we heard about eight marriages that were going through difficult times. Some of them were well known to us and we could do nothing about it. When we started praying for the couples God spoke to us about PREPARATION FOR MARRIAGE. God imparted to us the value of marriage.
WHEN GOD CALLS HE WOULD ALSO EQUIP…
Our first premarital counseling session was right after our first wedding anniversary. Soon people started approaching us for both premarital & marriage counseling. Both of us had our secular jobs in a multinational company and Women’s Christian College, Chennai respectively. In 1997 November we met Rod and Ruthie Gilbert who were pioneering their work among families at Cornerstone House, SU Camp Center, Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. It was there at our very first seminar in March 1998 God spoke to us very specifically saying we were “a couple set apart for families”. We soon became part of every seminar that happened at Cornerstone. God was training us without our knowledge. We gave up our secular jobs. We became Level 2, Marriage Counselors recognized by the Association of Christian Counselors, South Asia.
In May 2002 Rod & Ruthie commissioned us and released us to reach out to families of the nations. We started our journey trusting absolutely in God for everything. We never could understand at that time what God was doing – today we are sure that we are a couple set apart by God for marriage & families. Joel has his Masters in Divinity & is now pursuing his Doctorate in Ministry.
LAUNCH OF SOURCE – A CENTER FOR FAMILY CARE & TRAINING
In 2005, the need for a resource cum counseling center in the city of Chennai was felt and SOURCE was established. A Center for Family Care & Training was registered as a Public Charitable Trust.
Our vision is to see every couple build strong marriages and families based on God’s Word in churches and in the wider community. We see it being fulfilled as we
- Guide couples to begin their married life grounded on the knowledge of God’s heart for marriage.
- Teach couples on God’s Word for Marriage and equip them to have A CHRIST- CENTERED & HOLY SPIRIT – EMPOWERED MARRIAGE through Couples Bible Study, weekend seminars and one day retreats.
